September 2026 Campout

Guadeloupe River Tubing

I. Campout Theme:

Tubing, Swimming

II. Departure Time and Place:

We will be leaving Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church at 6:30. It will take us roughly 5hrs to get to camp.

III. Camp

We will be camping at Potters Creek Park, address is 3145 Potters Creek Rd, Canyon Lake, TX 78133 we have campsites 18,17, and 16.

IV. Transportation:

We will travel by car for this campout.

V. Return Time:

Our goal is to depart Potters Creek Park by 8:30 A.M. We should return to the Otto Middle School area between 12:30-1:30.

VI. Food:

Scouts should have dinner prior to showing up or on the road. Patrols will be meal planning for the weekend.

  • Saturday morning- hot breakfast
  • Saturday lunch – Sack lunch that can be kept in the car
  • Saturday dinner- Hot meal
  • Sunday breakfast- grab and go breakfast

VII. Personal Equipment List:

Long sleeve swim shirt and swim trunks for tubing and swimming, heeled swim shoes, change of clothes & shoes for ride back to camp.

Necessary Gear:

  • Class A uniform
  • Raingear
  • Closed Toed shoes and or Hiking Boots
  • Troop Hat
  • 2 sets of shorts or pants
  • 2 shirts (class B or equivalent)
  • 3 sets of underwear
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • Swim trunks 
  • Swim shirt
  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag, (will be 90’s during day and 70’s at night)
  • Sleeping pad
  • Day Pack for Lunch and change of clothes
  • Mess Kit
  • Spork or spoon
  • Flashlight/Headlamp with extra batteries
  • 1-liter Personal Water bottle
  • Trash bags
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Towel
  • SUNSCREEN!

 Recommended Gear:

  • Extra pair of shoes or water shoes (lightweight)
  • Toiletries/Personal hygiene items
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen

Optional Gear:

  • Camera 
  • Camp stool or camp chair
  • Lip Balm

VIII.  Cost:

The only cost will be for meals for the weekend.

IX. Weather:

Looks like the weather will be great so far with highs in the 90’s and lows in the low 70’s.

X. Schedule:

Friday Sept. 18th, 2026

  • 6:30 pm. – Leave the Church
  • 11:00-11:30 pm. – Arrive at Camp
  • 12:00 pm. – Lights out

Saturday Sept. 19th, 2026

  • 7:00 am. – Reveille
  • 8:00 am. – Breakfast
  • 9:30 am. – Leave for tubing
  • 12:00 pm. – Lunch
  • 1:30 pm. – More tubing
  • 6:30 pm. – Dinner
  • 8:30 pm. – Campfire Program
  • 10:30 pm. – Lights out

Sunday, Sept. 20th, 2026

  • 7:00 am. – Reveille
  • 8:30 am. – Grab and Go Breakfast and Departure
  • 12:30-1:00 pm. – Arrive at Otto

XI. Miscellaneous Notes:

TRAVEL TIME

  • From Plano it is 4-5hrs away to Potters Creek Park and then 30 min to Lazy L&L.

NOTES ON TRIP

This will be a relaxing and fun campout. We have will be tubing down the river and just enjoying the outdoors and reconnecting with friends. The idea for this campout is to get back into the swing of Scouting and enjoy the friends you might not have seen in a while as well as getting wet and tubing down the river..

The closest Emergency Room is the Methodist ER Bulverde at 20475 TX-46 #100, Spring Branch, TX 78070.

What to look out for:

  • Snakes
  • Poison Ivy, Oak, Sumac
  • Spiders
  • Heat Exhaustion, Stroke, Sunburn
