December Shooting and Orienteering Campout

I. Campout Theme:

We have reserved the Shotgun Range for Saturday morning and will be having an Orienteering Exercise for all that need it. We will also be having our yearly big Cooking Competition.

II. Departure Time and Place:

Meet at church at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec 5th, 2025.  Depart at 6:30 p.m. Sharp. Travel time will be roughly 1.5.

III. Camp

We will be camping at the Geronimo Campsite at Camp James Ray. Address is 2026 Mill Creek Rd, Pottsboro, TX 75076

IV. Transportation:

We will travel by car for this campout.

V. Return Time:

Our goal is to depart Camp James Ray by 9 am and arrive at Otto Middle School by 10:30 am. 

VI. Food:

Scouts should eat before departing on Friday.  We will be eating and cooking as patrols for this campout. All scouts need to bring money for the Grubmasters on Friday.

VII. Personal Equipment List:

Necessary Gear:

  • A Great Attitude!!!!
  • Class A uniform
  • Raingear
  • Heavy Jacket
  • Closed Toed shoes or Hiking Boots
  • Troop Hat
  • 2 sets of shorts or pants
  • 2 shirts (class B or equivalent)
  • 3 sets of underwear
  • 3 pairs of socks 
  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag, (will be upper 60’s during day and lower 40’s at night)
  • Sleeping pad
  • Day Pack for Hiking
  • Spork or spoon
  • Flashlight/Headlamp with extra batteries
  • Personal Water bottle
  • Trash bags
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Towel
  • SUNSCREEN!

Recommended Gear:

  • Sunglasses    
  • Toiletries/Personal hygiene items
  • Sunscreen!!!  

Optional Gear:

  • Camp stool or camp chair                
  • Lip Balm               
  • Camera

VIII.  Cost:

The only cost for this campout will be for food.

Highs in the high 60s and lows in the 40s.

  • 8:00 arrive at Camp James Ray

Saturday, Dec 6th, 2025

  • 7:00 – Reveille
  • 8:00 – Hot Breakfast
  • 9:00 – Shotgun Range
  • 12:00 – Lunch
  • 2:00 – Orienteering
  • 6:30 – Hot Dinner
  • 8:30 – Campfire
  • 11:00 – Lights out

Sunday, Dec 7th, 2025

  • 7:00 – Reveille
  • 9:00 – Depart for Otto Middle School
  • 10:30 – Arrive at Otto Middle School
