February 2026 Campout

Camping at Blackland Prairie Raptor Center I.          Campout Theme:           Raptor Education and Conservation, We are going to doing their Live Raptor Program, We will be given a guided trail walk and have the opportunity to help with some conservation work. They are also going to be providing Smores over the Campfire! II.        Departure Time and Place: We will meet at the church at 6:00 pm and plan to depart at 6:30. The drive will be about 30 min. to the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center address is 1625 Brockdale Park Rd, Lucas, TX 75002. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZJgVEeNvqs5D5LVY8 III.      Camp We will camping in the Red Tailed Hawk Camping area. IV.       Transportation:  We will travel by car to this campout. V.        Return Time:  Our goal is to depart Blackland Prairie Raptor Center by 8:30 A.M. We should return to the Otto Middle School area around 9 a.m. VI.      Food:  Patrols / Scouts will be Meal Planning for the entire weekend. This is a great weekend to get all your cooking and meal planning done for your rank advancements. X.        Schedule: Friday, February 20th, 2026 Saturday, February 21st, 2026 Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 XI.      Miscellaneous Notes:  TRAVEL TIME NEAREST HOSPITAL NOTES ON TRIP The scouts will have the opportunity to learn and see a lot of our local Raptors. We will have a Live Raptor Program with a guided hike as well as an opportunity for some Conservation work at the center. This will help us with our upcoming Bird Study Merit Badge. FOOD: We will be doing a meal planning meeting, and the patrols will be cooking the entire weekend. I expect the scouts to all fully participate in this endeavor and not leave it up to one person. GEAR CARRYING: The normal camp gear will be needed, a tent, day pack, water bottles. We will be bringing the trailer for this campout.
